What does the 'P' stand for ?
Sorry to disappoint you if you are waiting for us to give you the meaning of the 'P'.
The 'P' is such a powerfull letter with that many words starting with it that we can not limit it to one version. In fact, the idea is that you all can have a different meaning for it. Funky Power, Party, People, or some more explicit lyrics as a recent poll showed, have it your own way.

How did Funky P come to life ?
Our bassplayer Marc Reichling had this idea of putting together a band like this for a long time. But, one piece was missing in the puzzle, the soul voice that would bring to life the songs.
Then, in 2004, Marc subbed in a soul-cover band in Germany, where a singer named Isaac Roosevelt was also doing some gigs. They immediately found together, exposed their ideas and it was clear that this could be the start of something great.
Isaac was somehow stuck in the cover-music scene as nobody really would take the risk of bringing own songs, as on the other side musicians we waiting for the missing piece for Funky P. We found ourselves and the 9 piece party called Funky P was born mid-2004.
What musical styles do Funky P show ?
Funky P is the quintessential international soul band for the 21st century.
Fusing elements of live club music with inspired song-writing and outstanding production, incorporating the best traditions of soul and R&B, jazz and hip-hop. If we think a musical style has something to gve, it's gotta leave some footprints in our music.
What makes the difference between other bands and Funky P, what is so special ?
FUNK MUSIC WITH A POP SENSIBILITY – When you listen to Funky P you feel and hear something a little bit different. “They are very special. Funky P play music that fit their vibe.”A by product of the eclectic ‘neo-soul/beat-oriented’ culture, Funky P is fast becoming one of the most exciting bands to emerge from Europe’s urban music melting pot.
We are a bunch of Jazz and Funk guys who decided to write pop music. Funky P is completely happy to go out and blaze a path for others to follow. If people follow us down, that’s cool – otherwise, it will be fun for us to go out and hang by ourselves.
We are fast developing our own identity after searching for it in other people’s music. “You can only imitate other bands so long till you look in the mirror and say, O.K. it’s all right to play your own songs.”

What is the main energy behind Funky P
Well, our main motivation is to have a good time, being in a studio , a rehearsal or sharing our vibes with you at a gig.
You people out there are our main energy. We make our music for you. Of course for ourselves too, but it's some encouraging to see you people react to our music.
When will the first Funky P CD be ready ?
Since the great feedback we got on the 'Smile Baby EP' release back in 2005 and the songs 'Real Love' and 'Heaven is around the Corner' in 2006 and 2007, you keep asking for more. Yes, we have plenty of own songs in our pocket, but we only want to bring you the best possible Funky XP.
International music business is so hard that it's not enough to fill a CD with 60 minutes of music with perhaps 3 songs worth buying. People buy single songs via download or similar, times are changing that fast that there is no place for average to OK productions.
Some songs we play work out great in live.situation but would fail on CD. So, there's a lot of work o be done rearranging songs, recording them, redoing them and again and again.
To cut it short, plenty of work and experimentation has been done and we will have a CD out with 100% Funky P original songs in 2009. So, keep some bucks in the pockets ready.
